Privacy policy
Effective September 14, 2026.
1. What we collect and why
| Source | Item | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| General inquiry | Name (optional), contact details (email or phone), message | Replying to inquiries |
| Lesson inquiry | Contact (email or phone); instrument, level, area, goal | Connecting you with teachers and music schools |
| Teacher and music school registration | Name or business name, contact details, area, experience and genres, lesson fee | Directory listing, forwarding inquiries |
| Partnership inquiry | Business name, contact person, contact details, products carried | Partnership discussion |
| Lesson reviews | Rating, review text, display name (optional) | Showing reviews on the teacher's card |
| Newsletter | Sending update emails |
2. How long we keep it
Inquiries are kept for 1 year after they're handled. Registration details and lesson reviews are kept until you ask us to take them down, and newsletter details until you unsubscribe. After that, they're deleted without delay.
3. How we process it
What you enter in the site's inquiry, registration and subscription forms is stored in a database on First Guitar's intake server (Railway, Singapore region). Your IP address is recorded with it to check for spam and duplicates.
Stored submissions are handled on an admin screen that only the operator can access.
So that we can reply, inquiries and sign-ups are also forwarded to and kept in our operating mailbox (from October 11, 2026). It's Google Workspace Gmail at dortkthf@1gita.art. Replies and any later emails go through this address too.
Mailbox contents are stored on Google's servers under Google's privacy policy.
Only when the intake server can't be reached, the form switches to opening your email app to send directly to dortkthf@1gita.art. In that case the message is sent from your own email account and does not go through the site's server.
Your browser's local storage holds only the following, and none of it leaves your device.
- Your used-guitar checklist ticks
- Your roadmap stage
- The 'My set' you picked in the guitar finder, amps and effects (the products and price ranges you chose)
But if you tap 'Send to a friend', what you picked (type, product, price range, answers) is put into the share link's address. Your name and contact details are not included.
3-1. Tuner microphone use
When you tap 'Turn on mic' on the tuner page, your browser asks for microphone permission. If you allow it, the mic is used only to work out pitch.
- Nothing is recorded, stored or sent to a server. All calculation happens inside your browser.
- It stops immediately when you tap 'Turn off mic' or leave the page.
- You can withdraw the permission anytime in your browser settings.
3-2. Lesson reviews
Lesson reviews can only be written through a review link First Guitar sends to students (from 2026-10-11).
- What we collect: a rating, the review text and an optional display name ("Student" if left blank). No contact details.
- After the operator checks it, the review is shown publicly on that teacher's card.
- The writer and the teacher can ask us to edit or delete it at any time at dortkthf@1gita.art.
3-3. Update emails
When you sign up, we send a confirmation email to that address, and we only send updates to addresses where 'Confirm subscription' was clicked (from 2026-10-13). Every email has an unsubscribe link; once you unsubscribe, we stop emailing that address.
Confirmation and update emails are sent through the email delivery service Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), which receives the recipient's address and the email content for this purpose. If the connection to our mailbox has a problem, alerts about new submissions are also sent to our mailbox through the same service.
4. Sharing with third parties
For lesson inquiries, your inquiry and contact details are passed to the teacher or music school you chose. We don't share anything with other third parties, except when the law requires it.
5. Your rights
Users and registrants can ask at dortkthf@1gita.art at any time to view, correct or delete their information or take down a listing. We handle it without delay.
6. Outside services
The site loads a web font (Pretendard) from the jsDelivr CDN. In the process, your IP address may be passed to that CDN.
For visit statistics we use Google Analytics 4 (since September 17, 2026).
- What it collects: the page address, visit time, device and browser type, and approximate location. IP addresses are anonymized.
- Usage events: starting and finishing the finder, time on the results screen (in 30-second and 2-minute steps), and picking products. Clicks on retailer and shopping-search links, shared results and submitted forms are recorded too. We never send names, contact details or email addresses.
- Ad personalization signals (Google Signals) are turned off.
Collected data is handled under Google's privacy policy, and you can opt out with your browser's tracking protection.
Anonymous usage statistics (from 2026-10-11): we store the following on First Guitar's intake server (Railway).
- Your answers and results in the guitar finder
- The models and gear types you pick
- Clicks through to retailers and shopping searches
- Visits to the 'My set' summary
We keep only values that can't identify you — no name, contact details, email or IP address. We use them to improve the service and for aggregate reports for partner retailers (statistics that can't identify anyone).
